The murder of 15 year old Hadiya Pendleton broke the hearts of an already fragile Chicago. Just a week after she and her high school marching band participated in the Presidential Inauguration she was shot while at a park with her friends. As homicides continue in the city, leaders have expressed a desire to have the President come home. It seems as though the Obamas have heard the cries of their hometown.
The First Lady has decided to attend the funeral for the Hadiya this Saturday.

“Her shooting has come to symbolize the kind of everyday violence that affects many communities around the country and the huge spike in homicides in Chicago over the last year, two issues that have received far less national attention than the mass killing in Newtown Connecticut.”
